UK Budget in 1996

The pie chart shows how much money the UK government spent on ten categories in 1996.

The UK government spent £100 billion on social security which is the highest amount and almost twice the amount for health and personal social services, £53 billion. Also they spent £17 billion for law & order and they spent almost half of that amount £9 billion for transport which is the lowest amount. The UK government spent £38 billion for education and £25 billion for debt interest. £45 billion was the total amount which was on two categories which were other expenditure and defence. Another two things that they spent on are housing heritage & environment, £15 billion, and industry, agriculture & employment, £13 billion.

Finally, the UK government spent £315 billion in total in 1996. Nowadays the UK government spends more than twice this amount.
